Our Classes

Our Lamda classes are 15 minutes single or 30 minute double duration and can take place at one of our schools in Essex or Online via ZOOM.

After an initial discussion with a parent a class plan will be drawn up, based on your child’s current grade and/or requirements.

If your child is new to Lamda, the first class will be a free taster session to explain the different options available. If your child has already taken Lamda exams previously we will continue on to the next grade, as appropriate.

Classes are available in Verse & Prose, Acting, Reading for Performance, Devising Drama, Shakespeare and Speaking in Public.

Each week a section of the Lamda text will be worked on with the teacher and a small section given as homework, to learn. Through the weeks the pieces will be learnt and rehearsed and the exam questions will be practised. When the student is ready they will be entered for a Lamda exam near their home or online.  You do not have to take an exam to take Lamda classes.

The Examiners Report and a Lamda Certificate will be yours 6 weeks later, with the grade achieved.

The grades start at Introductory 1 and go up to Grade 8 Gold Medal (equivalent to an A level). UCAS points are awarded, dependent on the grade achieved, for (grade 6-8) Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals.

All classes develop confidence, improve articulation, expression, projection, body language, communication and performance, pace and pitch. Fun character work will also be included in the acting, devising drama and Shakespeare pieces.

We look forward to welcoming you to your Lamda class soon.

Online Classes

Girl Performing Speech

Debut School of Performing Arts was founded in 2002 and since then has been running Acting, Singing, Drama and LAMDA classes from our facilities in Essex.

In 2008 we began teaching LAMDA classes in local schools in Essex and quickly expanded to teaching Online around the world.

The 1-1 lessons lend themselves particularly well for remote learning lessons. The vast improvements in communication and internet access have given children and young adults the opportunity to all enjoy LAMDA lessons.  LAMDA have Centres for students to take their exams globally and from July 2020 will offer Online Exams that can be taken from home.

When a time and date has been agreed you will receive a Zoom Class Invitation with your password number (for online security). Simply click on the invitation link and enter your password at your allotted time.  Just remember to have your microphone and camera switched on. It’s as easy as that. Zoom is a very straightforward system to use and has proved to be extremely successful for online LAMDA lessons.
